The CAPE JAFFA LIGHTHOUSE.
Marine Parade on the foreshore in Kingston SE.
|

Brief Summary
The CAPE JAFFA LIGHTHOUSE is a "must see" tourist attraction that is located on the foreshore in Kingston SE in the South East of South Australia.
The lighthouse was originally built out to sea from Cape Jaffa, on the Margaret Brock Reef, after several ships were wrecked in the area after running aground. The local community, with the help of the National Trust, decided to dismantle the structure and to reassemble it again in Kingston SE and to conduct tours of it and provide information about it's history.

Conducted Tours
Tours of the lighthouse can be taken by the general public.
Please be aware that it is a considerable climb up to the top and not advisable for the fainthearted!
These tours will take you right up to the top and give you a good idea exactly what it was like years ago to have been a lighthouse keeper for weeks at a time in isolation.
The lighthouse is open on school holidays, public holidays and over Christmas but can also be opened upon request. As the attraction is completely staffed by volunteers, it might not be open when you expect it to be so please enquire at the Kingston Caravan Park next to the Lighthouse or by contacting the local branch of the National Trust.
